26 May WCME’s Mike Violette Rolling Through The Scene of A Fatal Freeport Car Crash
It happened near Exit 20 of Interstate 295 in Freeport and caused some notable backups–as far south as Exit 15 in Yarmouth, but a section of the road between exits 17 and 20 that had been closed, has now been re-opened to traffic.
We’re awaiting the release of the identity of the victim.
The accident happened when a vehicle traveling south sideswiped another vehicle, sending it across the median and into the northbound lanes, where it crashed into a third vehicle. The driver of the sideswiped vehicle died in the crash.

WCME’s Mike Violette was headed north out of Portland to his father’s home in Waterville for a Memorial Day observance, when he encountered the crash site.
